Semi-Marathon International de Nice has been held since 1992, organised by Azur Sport Organisation, the team behind the Nice–Cannes marathon. It takes place in spring, with much of the course along the Promenade des Anglais overlooking the Baie des Anges, so the route is flat and suited to fast times. Mediterranean sunshine, palm trees and crowds on the promenade make it a celebration, and finishing by the sea is a special pleasure. Afterwards Nice offers the Old Town and the Cours Saleya market, the panorama from Castle Hill, the Matisse and Chagall museums and socca with a glass of rosé.
