Šibenik 10K Race takes place in October, when the Dalmatian sun has softened but the sea is still warm. Start and finish are on Pavle Šubić Square by the sea, and the 10 km is two 5 km laps along the closed-off waterfront with views of the channel and the old town. There is also a 4 km race, Draženova četvorka, named after basketball legend Dražen Petrović, a Šibenik native whose monument the course passes. It is flat, fast and very scenic. Šibenik is a stone old town with the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James and the fortresses of St Michael and St Nicholas, with the Krka waterfalls and the Kornati islands close by.
