Sighișoara 10K is a city run in Transylvania's most atmospheric town: the start and course wind around the medieval citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its towers, cobblestones and the house where, by legend, Vlad the Impaler was born. Organisers offer 10 km for those wanting a full distance and 5 km for beginners and families. The motto is 'run through history': the course is noticeably hilly, with climbs up to the citadel, so it is a scenic rather than a fast race. A great excuse to combine running with a walk through one of Romania's loveliest small towns.
