The Silesia Marathon is Upper Silesia's big running weekend: in 2026 the main race day is 4 October, with youth races on 2–3 October drawing around a thousand young runners. There is a whole range of distances — 5 km, 10 km, half, marathon and a 50 km ultra. The course crosses the post-industrial landscape of the Silesian conurbation, with some ups and downs, and finishes on the track of the Stadion Śląski, the 'witches' cauldron' of Polish sport. The edition's motto, 'faster, higher, stronger', sums up the mood. Katowice offers the Silesian Museum on a former mine site, the NOSPR concert hall, the miners' estate of Nikiszowiec and Silesian roulade with dumplings.
