The Spetses Mini Marathon is Greece's largest multisport weekend, held on the scenic, almost car-free island of Spetses in the Saronic Gulf. Alongside longer runs and open-water swims, its mass 5 and 10 km road races draw thousands of amateurs and families. The course runs along the seafront promenade and past old captains' mansions — flat and full of atmosphere. The island is reached by ferry or hydrofoil from Piraeus. It takes place in early October, once the summer heat has eased.
