Stirnu buks ('Roe Buck') is one of Latvia's most popular trail-running series: six stages from spring to autumn, each offering Vāvere (5–7 km), Zaķis (11–14 km), Stirnu buks (18–24 km) and Lūsis (24–36 km), plus a kids' run and untimed hiking options. The 'Saulgriežu nakts' (Solstice Night) stage falls on the eve of Līgo and Jāņi, Latvia's biggest holiday, when the whole country stays up till dawn around bonfires wearing flower wreaths. It's the only stage with the Vilks ultra distance of 50+ km and also hosts the team Superleague quarterfinal; the venue moves around — in 2026 it was Liepāja. Bright northern nights, forests, dunes or river valleys and the festive mood make it one of the most atmospheric races of the season. After the finish, stay for the Midsummer festivities: songs, caraway cheese, beer and jumping over the bonfire.
