Stranda Fjord Trail Race

Stranda Fjord Trail Race is a multi-day trail festival in Stranda, Sunnmøre, held in early summer. Distances range from a 7 km evening 'express' and a 14 km up-and-down of Skurahornet (848 m of climbing) to the classic 25 km (1,800 m), a 55 km (3,800 m) and the 95 km Sunnmøre Fjord Trail Run with a colossal 6,800 m of ascent. The courses climb from the fjord itself to alpine ridges via coastal paths, forest trails, steep grassy slopes and the sharp summits of the Sunnmøre Alps, with the water far below: 'hard climbs, flowy descents', as the organisers promise. Stranda is a ski resort above the Storfjord, close to the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, the Seven Sisters waterfall and the art nouveau town of Ålesund.
