Estimated date — the organiser has not announced the exact day yet
The Streets of Galway 8K has been organised by Galway City Harriers every year since 1986 on an early-August Saturday evening, and its milestone 40th edition was started by the President of Ireland. Thousands of runners — from elites to casual joggers — set off near the Claddagh, run through the city-centre streets, loop out around Salthill and come back along the prom to finish at South Park by Nimmo's Pier. The course is fast and flat, the motto is 'Sport for All', and the midsummer evening start makes it a true city festival. Galway offers the Latin Quarter, the Spanish Arch, buskers on Shop Street, oysters and pubs full of trad music.
