Swissalpine is one of Europe's oldest mountain ultramarathons, held in Davos since the mid-1980s, usually on the last weekend of July, and it draws runners from dozens of countries. Today's programme features the K78, K43, K23 and K12: the long courses head up the Dischma and Sertig valleys and over high passes such as the Scaletta and Sertig, with views of the glaciers and peaks of Graubünden, while the K23 runs from Klosters over the Wolfgang Pass to Davos. The trails are not very technical, but altitude and climbing make them serious, and the finish in Davos is a festival. Davos is Europe's highest town, known for the World Economic Forum, the Kirchner Museum, the Davosersee and the Rhaetian Railway.
