SwissPeaks Trail is a huge trail festival held at the turn of August and September, which in 2026 reached its tenth edition under the motto 'From glacier to lake'. Its nine courses range from 10 km to 650 km, from the Discovery and half marathon to legendary routes crossing the whole canton of Valais from Oberwald, near the source of the Rhône, to Le Bouveret on Lake Geneva, with tens of thousands of metres of climbing, nights on the trail and multi-day battles with yourself. The courses run high above the Rhône valley over passes, moraines and mountain huts with views of the 4,000 m peaks, and the race can be followed live. Le Bouveret is a quiet lakeside town near the French border with a water park and steamers to Montreux and Geneva, and Valais also means vineyards, thermal spas and raclette.
