Tampere Juoksee is the city's biggest running event of the year, held in October and growing fast: participation has doubled in two years. Choose 5 km, 10 km or the half marathon, with a minimarathon for kids. The course runs through central Tampere with fine cityscapes, and organisers have promised updated routes for 2027. Cheering crowds and a finish-line party make it just as appealing for first-timers as for PB hunters. Tampere is the former ‘Manchester of Finland’: mills by the Tammerkoski rapids, the Pyynikki tower with its doughnuts, the Moomin Museum and some of the country's best-loved public saunas.
