Tampere Marathon takes place in early September and celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027 under the motto ‘From runner to runner’, organised from the very start by the local marathon club. Alongside the marathon there's a half, a fast 10 km, a four-person marathon relay and a charity minimarathon for kids. The course runs through the city centre and along Tampere's lakes and waterways, clearly marked and marshalled. It's a warm club-run race with age categories on all main distances. Tampere lies between lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi: the Pyynikki tower, the Moomin Museum, the old Finlayson mills and Rajaportti sauna.
