The Terni Half Marathon is held in early January, one of the first half marathons of the new season in central Italy. There is a half marathon and a 10 km, so newcomers can join in too. The course runs through the flat streets of Terni, an industrial city ringed by Umbrian hills, and is a good place to start the year with a strong result. It is a small, friendly race for the local running community and visitors alike. Terni is the city of Saint Valentine, patron of lovers, and just a few kilometres away lie the Marmore Falls, among the tallest man-made waterfalls in the world, and medieval hill towns such as Narni.
