The Thuner Stadtlauf is an August city race in Thun, held for the 31st time in 2026 and designed as a festival of grassroots sport for the whole town. The course winds through the old town below Thun Castle, along the turquoise Aare and the riverside promenades, where spectators line up in dense rows. There are distances for every level, the 1.6 km Famigros family run in which children run with their parents, team categories and a charity Run for Fun supporting children and young people with disabilities. Thun is the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, with its turreted medieval castle, the two-level main street, steamers on Lake Thun and views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
