Timișoara 21K by SportGuru opens the running season in early March: the first edition was held in 2020, and it now draws thousands of adults and children, from beginners to elites. The start and race village sit on Liberty Square in the heart of the city, with a half marathon, 10 km, 3 km and a children's race. The signature touch is music: bands, including up-and-coming ones, play along the course, so runners move from one stage to the next. The flat city route is ideal for a first half marathon or an early-season fitness check. Timișoara was a 2023 European Capital of Culture: Victory Square with the opera and cathedral, Baroque Union Square, the Bega embankments and blossoming parks.
