The Torlauf Dachstein has been held in Ramsau am Dachstein since 2017, in early September; the next edition is on 4 September 2027. Options include a 72 km ultra (3,900 m of climbing), a 42 km marathon (2,500 m), a 24 km skyrace up to the Dachstein glacier (2,220 m), a gentler 24 km 'half marathon' and a 10 km race for teams of four. The courses cross high alpine terrain with technical sections — the Silberkarklamm gorge, the Edelgries scree fields and even an easy via ferrata — beneath the sheer Dachstein south face. The race is listed with Skyrunning and ITRA. Ramsau is a sunny plateau, a cross-country skiing paradise in winter and a hiking hub in summer, with Schladming and the Dachstein glacier's 'Stairway to Nothingness' close by.
