The Trail des Fantômes is one of Wallonia's best-known trail races, drawing runners to La Roche-en-Ardenne every summer for more than 15 years. Distances from 10 to 100 km climb the steep wooded slopes of the Ourthe valley, past the medieval castle above the town and through Ardennes villages, with serious elevation gain. La Roche offers kayaking on the Ourthe, castle ruins said to be haunted by Bertha's ghost, and local ham and beer.
