Trail du Ventoux takes place in early March in Bédoin, at the foot of Mont Ventoux of Tour de France fame, under the motto 'Enter the legend'. There is something for everyone: 15.8 km through the AOC Ventoux vineyards, the 29 km Balcon des Jas, the popular 46 km with 2,500 m of climbing, a 64 km and the 75 km Intégrale des Crêtes with 3,900 m of ascent, plus an eco-walk. Courses climb through forests and along rocky ridges with views over Provence, the Alps and the Dentelles de Montmirail, and in early spring the summit can still hold snow. Bédoin is a Provençal village of markets and Ventoux wine, near truffle-town Carpentras and Avignon's Palais des Papes.
