Trail de Conímbriga Terras de Sicó takes place in late February, based in Condeixa-a-Nova and spanning six municipalities — Condeixa, Penela, Ansião, Alvaiázere, Soure and Pombal. The range of distances is impressive: the 178 km Ultra Endurance XL with over 6,200 m of climbing and a 40-hour limit, plus 111 km, 60 km, a 42 km trail marathon, 25 km and a 13.5 km mini trail, as well as a walk. The routes roll across the karst hills of the Sicó massif through olive groves, stone villages and gorges, near the Roman ruins of Conímbriga and Penela castle. The region is famous for Rabaçal sheep's cheese, Portugal's finest Roman mosaics at Conímbriga and the nearby university city of Coimbra.
