The TUI Cyprus Marathon has been held in Paphos since 1999, on the last weekend of February. Saturday brings the 5 km Sunset Run from Paphos Castle; on Sunday the marathon starts at legendary Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou), with the half marathon and 10 km starting at the castle, plus a fun Wine Run. The course is flat and fast, following coastal roads past ancient landscapes with Mediterranean views and finishing at Paphos's UNESCO-listed historic harbour. Awards are presented by the medieval castle, and the whole weekend feels like a big seaside festival. In Paphos, don't miss the mosaics of the Archaeological Park, the Tombs of the Kings and sunset at Aphrodite's Rock.
