Oh Meu Deus is one of Portugal's longest-running ultra trails, held since 2011 and now part of the by UTMB series; in 2027 it runs from 30 April to 2 May, based around São Romão at the foot of Serra da Estrela. Distances are 100 miles (167 km, 8,900 m of climbing), 100K (94 km), 50K (52 km) and 20K (22 km), almost entirely on unpaved trails. The courses climb mainland Portugal's highest range and head on to the Açor and Lousã mountains through schist villages and historic settlements — the name, 'Oh My God', says it all. Serra da Estrela means glacial valleys, granite boulders, the famous Serra da Estrela cheese, burel wool from Manteigas and hillside villages such as Loriga.
