Ultraløbet Ringkøbing Fjord Rundt takes place in late August: 60 and 100 km on a loop around Ringkøbing Fjord, a large lagoon in west Jutland separated from the sea by the narrow Holmsland Klit spit. The course is flat, but wind and distance take their toll; along the way are dunes, the fishing port of Hvide Sande and bird-filled meadows. Ringkøbing is an old market town with cobbled lanes.
