Ultravasan 90 is a summer ultramarathon on the course of the famous Vasaloppet ski race: 92 km from Sälen to Mora, starting at five in the morning. The legend dates back to Gustav Vasa's flight in 1521, and the Vasaloppet itself has been held since 1922; in summer up to 2,500 runners follow in its tracks, with the shorter Ultravasan 45 and a 30 km option too. The course runs mostly on forest roads and trails through airy pine woods, along winding streams and past old summer farms, with a gentle profile of about 870 m of total climbing, so it is the distance that makes it hard. The finish is under the famous 'In the footsteps of our fathers' arch in central Mora. Dalarna is the land of red cottages, painted Dala horses, Lake Siljan and the Anders Zorn museum in Mora.
