Velvet Run is a women-only race in Košice, organised by the Košice Marathon team in late June. Two female-only courses: the short one is a single 5 km loop, the long one two identical 10 km loops, both flat and fast. There is also 5 km Nordic walking. It suits beginners and 'off-the-couch' runners, while the city itself is Europe's oldest marathon town, with a beautiful Gothic main square and St Elizabeth's Cathedral. A great reason for a short trip to eastern Slovakia.
