The Venice Half Marathon runs on the last Sunday of October alongside the famous Venicemarathon; 2026 is its fifth edition, and every place sold out. It starts in Piazza Ferretto in Mestre beside the medieval tower, passes the M9 museum, follows the Canal Salso and San Giuliano Park, then crosses the lagoon on the Ponte della Libertà straight into Venice. The last three kilometres run at water level along the historic quays, over 14 small bridges fitted with wooden ramps, to the finish on the Riva Sette Martiri by the lagoon. The course is AIMS-certified, with cobbles only in the final 100 metres, and every finisher gets a medal. Afterwards: St Mark's Square, the Grand Canal by vaporetto, the islands of Murano and Burano, and cicchetti with a spritz in a bacaro.
