Vinkovci Half Marathon

Vinkovački polumaraton takes place in late September, organised by the local Halfmarathon Team association together with the city tourist board. Alongside the half marathon there is a 7 km citizens' race through the city streets, a 3×7 km relay and a free 800 m kids' race. The course is as flat as the Slavonian plain, though the organisers still call it challenging; aid stations and medical teams line the route. It is an intimate, homely running festival for the whole region. Vinkovci was the Roman town of Cibalae, birthplace of emperors Valentinian and Valens, and every September it hosts the famous Vinkovci Autumns folk festival.
