Media Maratón de Vitoria-Gasteiz
20 December 2026 · Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain
regional favoriteflathidden gem
The Vitoria-Gasteiz Half Marathon takes place in mid-December through the streets of one of Europe's greenest capitals — Vitoria-Gasteiz has repeatedly earned recognition as a European Green Capital for its abundance of parks and forward-thinking urban ecology. Start and finish sit beside the Mendizorrotza sports complex, and the course is flat, fast, and RFEA-certified, making it an appealing target for a personal best even in the depths of winter. The route weaves past the medieval Casco Viejo with its narrow lanes and celebrated pintxo bars, and the cool Basque winter usually delivers comfortable racing temperatures. It's a beloved regional fixture with decades of history and nearly 5,000 runners, drawing athletes from across Spain for its warm atmosphere and excellent post-race spread.
