The VO Halvmarathon takes place in early August near Thisted: 7 km, 14 km and a half marathon on trails and hills in Thy — sandy tracks, conifer plantations and heath near Thy National Park. The course is demanding, but the wild nature and North Sea space make it worthwhile. Surf village Klitmøller ('Cold Hawaii'), Thisted with its brewery and Hanstholm lighthouse are nearby.
