The Greenway Half Marathon is a late-August point-to-point race on the Waterford Greenway, the trail built on the old Waterford–Dungarvan railway line and opened in 2017. It starts at the Coach House in Kilmacthomas and finishes at Ballinroad near Dungarvan, with a bus back to the start included. The course is almost flat and traffic-free on the former railway bed — over viaducts, past green fields, with Dungarvan Bay opening up near the end; entries are capped at 750, and every runner gets a T-shirt. The 47 km greenway is one of Ireland's finest cycling trails, and Dungarvan is known for its food scene, castle and harbour.
