The Welser Halbmarathon is a spring half marathon in Wels held in mid-March; in 2026 it took place on 15 March. The course is a completely flat, AIMS-certified 7,005 m loop along the Traun river, and the organisers fairly call it one of the fastest in Europe. The half marathon is three laps, and there is also a relay and a one-lap 7.1 km Power-Run, so it suits PB hunters and first-time half marathoners alike. Its early-spring date makes it a perfect fitness check before the April marathons. Wels is a historic Upper Austrian town with colourful façades on its Stadtplatz, the imperial Burg Wels and Linz half an hour away.
