Zagreb Advent Run is winter Zagreb's most cheerful race: December 2025 saw its tenth, jubilee edition, drawing several thousand runners, many from abroad. The 5 km and 10 km start on Metalčeva Street by Hotel Zonar; the 10 km passes King Tomislav, Ante Starčević and Ban Jelačić squares, then Ribnjak and Medveščak. Runners dress as Santas, elves and reindeer, and the race supports charity. The city is decked out for Advent, so you can head straight from the finish to the markets. Zagreb's Advent is one of Europe's best Christmas markets: mulled wine, strudel and sausages on the squares, an ice rink by the Art Pavilion and the lights of the Upper Town.
