The Zagreb Marathon starts and finishes at Ban Jelačić Square — the very heart of the Croatian capital — and the course has been redesigned twice specifically for speed, making it one of the region's fastest starts: the men's course record has stood since 2017 at 2:09:55. Along the way runners pass Dolac, the covered market above the main square, and the cobblestoned Upper Town of Gradec. The finish brings not just a medal but a genuine pasta party with beer on Kurelčeva Street, by European Square.
