The Halve Marathon Zwolle takes place on a June evening with around 10,000 runners. After 2.6 km the course loops three times (6.2 km each) through the historic Hanseatic centre to a finish on the Grote Markt; brass bands, live music and DJs play the whole way, and the party continues on the old-town squares afterwards. Zwolle is one of the prettiest Hanseatic towns: the Sassenpoort gate, the Broerenkerk church turned bookshop, star-shaped canals and plenty of terraces.
