The Milano Half Marathon (formerly Milano21) is held in late November and draws more than 15,000 runners, making it one of Italy's biggest half marathons; choose between the 21 km and a competitive or non-competitive 10 km. Start, finish and the expo village are by the Portello metro stop (M4 line), and the fast course, with only about 40 m of elevation gain, runs through the heart of Milan: the CityLife towers, Sempione Park, the Duomo, the Sforza Castle and the Darsena. It is AIMS- and World Athletics-certified, with live music along the route including the Rockin'1000 rock collective, and a medal for every finisher. It is an ideal end-of-season PB course. Milan offers Leonardo's Last Supper, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, aperitivo on the Navigli canals and saffron risotto.
An easy run with a local club the day before the race — the best way to shake out the legs and meet the city.
